What’s an HRA, anyway?

Posted by: Dina Morgan

DRG, EKG, CBC, CT, MRI…the list of abbreviations that health professionals use every day goes on. How does this one roll off your tongue? HRA.

What’s an HRA, anyway?  It’s a Health Risk Assessment, a comprehensive questionnaire developed to assess key areas of your health and lifestyle, such as nutrition, sleep, stress and heart health, that once tabulated, produces a wealth of information that connects your lifestyle habits to risk factors for chronic conditions.

Every Northwell Health employee has the opportunity to take a 100% confidential Health Risk Assessment on the new myWellness platform. The HRA available to you is considered gold-standard by health professionals and only takes about 15 minutes to complete.

So why take the HRA? Here are the Top 3 reasons you should consider taking the HRA right away:

Insight: You’ll gain a better understanding of your own health status (you’ll get a wellness score and full report that you can share with your personal physician).

Actionable information: The personal report visually highlights health status, provides valuable guidance and recommended tools for areas of improvement, and can be updated by you at any time to capture changes you have made.

Motivation: Having all this information in one place, in an easy-to-understand format, could be just the motivation you need to take your health and lifestyle to the next level.

You can find the green TAKE THE HRA button on the top right of your home page in the myWellness platform.

Once you’ve taken the HRA, myWellness becomes customizable to help you boost your focus on areas that you want to work on. Both the desktop version, and the corresponding mobile app (available for androids and iPhones when you download the app, Virgin Pulse) will push you content to support healthy habits and lots of healthy tips, in an interactive, user-friendly format that will keep you on top of your progress, help you earn points in myRecognition, and keep you connected to your friends and colleagues through a choice of dozens of challenges.

myWellness is made for healthy living and so are you. Take your personal well-being to the next level and join today at Northwell.edu/myWellness.  Once you’re registered, you can order your free Max Buzz activity tracker (while supplies last) and take your HRA right away!

Jill – As of August 1, when we moved the online HRA to the myWellness, the online HRA for the covered spouse is no longer offered in the program.
