Success – One Step at a Time
And it’s 40 years later! Joseph Assortato, Assistant Director, Financial Reporting, Westbury, believes success doesn’t just come overnight. It takes hard work and perseverance to gain the respect and trust of others. Now that may sound old school to some, but not to Joe!
“If you want to be successful in our organization, my advice is to perform every task assigned to you, whether it’s a routine task or an additional one-time request with the goal being to complete the task accurately and timely. Always follow up to see that your work has yielded the expected desirable results,” says Joe, celebrating his 40 years with colleagues, friends and family during this year’s service award celebrations.
Joe credits his work ethic to our Executive VP and Chief Financial Officer, Robert Shapiro.
“I’ve known Bob his entire career here and he showed me, by example, how to be a caring and concerned leader in our organization.”
Bob’s not the only one Joe has entrusted his friendship, loyalty and professional pride in.
“Over my 40 years at Northwell, I’ve met many co-workers within finance, and various departments throughout the organization. I’ve met people from outside the organization , such as consultants and auditors. Some I’ve never actually met face to face, yet I feel I can call them friends. The relationships that developed over the years afforded all of us many opportunities to share information in both directions in order to get the job done.”
And that’s how Joe sees success – teamwork, trust, integrity, honesty, and lots of hard work. Raise a glass ….
