Making Wishes Come True
Northwell Health employees (also known as Lifers in our FaceBook group) have really hit the mark in 2017! Raising over $75,000 through outrageous acts of kindness, caring and enthusiasm, about fifty Make-A-Wish liaisons and thousands of Northwell employees deserve to be thanked.
“Topping $70,000 means seven wishes for seven deserving kids are coming true in 2018,” says Joe Moscola, Chief People Officer for Northwell Health and proud supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The Foundation grants wishes to kids with life-threatening medical conditions. With Cohen Children’s Medical Center being its biggest referral, Northwell partnered with Make-A-Wish, a little over a year ago making amazing strides in a short period of time.
“Partnering with Make-A-Wish has ignited a passion in so many of our employees. It’s extremely rewarding to see everyone go beyond their jobs, work together, have fun and lift the spirits of the children and their families,” says Make-A-Wish lead liaison, Michele Grossman.
Many families and healthcare providers believe the wish experience is a positive turning point in a “wish child’s” battle against their illness, according to the Foundation.
“Fundraising for this worthy cause has brought our employees Truly Together,” says Angela DiGuido, Staten Island University Hospital’s successful liaison and organizer of events.
The seven wishes in 2018 range from a 14-year old boy’s dream to visit Hawaii’s historical spots, to a young lady’s quest for help with college tuition.
“Our workforce safety group went straight to their best way of fundraising – social gatherings combined with pizza and ice cream. We even raffled off a lunch with our VP, Joe Molloy,” says workforce safety project manager, Maria Patilis.
So thanks …
Thanks to every Northwell Lifer that stood on a food truck line for a $25 lobster roll, got soaked in a dunking machine while dodging fast balls, chipped in for cold pizza when they really wanted their salad, wore waist-pinching jeans on a Friday, washed a car, gave up their parking spot, baked a cake … well the list goes on.
Thank you for making wishes come true! Comment below if you contributed to Make-A-Wish this year.
